A Walk from Aldworth

Wading through the green:

the enfolding field and then

the unfolding hills.

Busy buzzing bee,

chiffchaffs, swallows, lapwings, larks

and a lazy plane.

On the Ridgeway now -

walkers, a man and his dog,

cyclists and runners.

Sweet scents all around,

dazzling sunshine and warmth.

Solitude returns.

Joyful buttercups,

healthy horses swishing flies,

the wind in my mane.
